Living culture.

Acknowledgement of country

Walla Park acknowledges the traditional custodians of the land and waters on which we stand, the Wiradjuri People. We pay our respects to Elders past and present and to the children who are leaders of tomorrow. We acknowledge the history, living culture and the many thousands of years in which Aboriginal people have raised their children to be safe and strong. At Walla Park we celebrate the environment, people and culture. We aspire to keep culture alive by creating space for first nations people and our community to learn, connect and grow with this land through story telling and discovery.

What does culture mean to me?

Culture to me is about the relationships we have with the people and places around us and is shaped by our values and beliefs through our experiences in life. Culture is a living thing and grows and evolves as we share ideas and build new relationships in our communities. At Walla Park we are focused on growing positive culture by creating space for people to connect with each other and with country through shared experiences and discovery.

Connection to country for me is about the relationship i have with the environment around me. When I am out working on the farm i will often stop in the paddock or under a tree and take the time to slow down and be present, using all my senses to observe what's happening around me.

The whistling sound of small birds darting in and out of the wattles when i'm checking the water troughs, the sweet smell of nectar when the yellow box trees are flowering as i'm shifting the sheep, the feeling of gritty soil under my finger nails when i'm planting trees, or simply the pure taste of rain water in my drink bottle when i'm out fencing and take a minute to rest under a shady tree on a scorching hot day.

This is why i want to be a farmer. Each of these experiences shape the way we farm and live at Walla Park and strengthens our connection with the country. Connecting is allowing yourself to be curious which enables you to discover new things about yourself, others and the environment.

We invite you to share in the experience of Walla Park. Our goal is to build positive culture within our community and inspire future generations to build strong relationships with the people and places around them.
